Author's Notes:

Here is the first comic of the Seaworthy series, soon to be followed by many more! This is the first part of a two-part introductory comic; I had hoped to have them both up for the premiere. As it turns out, I had no idea how time-consuming making a comic could be, so I had to cut it short. Oh well, the second comic is half-drawn and will be ready by this Friday. Mondays and Fridays will be new comic days, so remember to mark your calendars!

So I suppose this is where I should say something about how I came to author a nautical webcomic. A couple of years ago (I think when I was visiting San Francisco) a sudden interest in seafaring and sailing ships awakened in me. Typically my historical interests lie in the Middle Ages, but with the same fervor I began to study up on the Age of Sail. I like to think that most of the comics that I have scripted out (and there are a number) are all fairly as historically accurate as I could manage, although I had to rewrite some historical facts to fit my story line. My newly acquired interest in maritime history also coincided with my beginning to read people's comics on the web. Since I was a kid I wanted to be a cartoonist, but it seemed unlikely that I would ever pursue that interest until I saw people's comics posted on the Internet.

Well, it wasn't long before I had an idea for a comic, but it was a long time before I felt that my drawing skills were developed enough to make a decent-looking comic. And there was also learning Photoshop to consider. But now I feel that I have a good grasp on the tools and the art, so I guess my story begins here. I humbly make my entrance into the webcomic community with this, the first installment of Seaworthy. I am pleased with how it has turned out visually, and I will now begin translating all my comic notes into new comics for your enjoyment! Welcome to Seaworthy, everyone.
