The man who goes by the name "Bellfont" is First Mate to Captain Strathclyde, and second-in-command aboard the Seaworthy. Little is known about this large man before he first went to sea with Strathclyde. He hails from Southampton, but he is clearly not an Englishman, and is suspected to be of Helvetii Swiss descent due to clues in his name and physical cast. An able seaman, Bellfont is not prone to the lapses of reason that oft afflict his commanding officer, though it is not his place to do more than offer his advice on deck. Bellfont is usually mild-mannered, but in the heat of battle he can be one of the most formidable warrior aboard the Seaworthy. His Majesty's Royal Navy classifies this man as reasonable for the most part, yet unpredicable, and contact under tense conditions could prove catastrophic.
Just as Captain Strathclyde is guiding hand from above, Bellfont in turn is the pillar of support for the rest of the ship's crew. It is often Bellfont that acts as the crew's ambassador to the Captain, and likewise it is he who often reports the news of the foredoomed or reprobate mission that his superior would then lead them on. In many cases, however, Bellfont's immediate auxiliary, Tess [Surname Withheld], helps to shoulder this burden with him.
