An untamed beauty among a rabble of miscreants, little is known of how Tess came to be in Strathclyde's service aboard the Seaworthy. According to the Royal Navy's file she was already a member of the crew during the "Bay of Frogs " Incident of 1710, the first officially recorded incident involving the Seaworthy, though the capacity in which she was serving at the time is unclear. Tess currently serves as Strathclyde's Lieutenant. Though she is outranked by First Officer Bellfont, she often appears to be the "Other First Mate," clearly outranking the rest of the crew, but seemingly serving a parallel function as a guiding figure to the rest of the ship.
As another advisor to the Captain, Tess is somewhat more outspoken than the more humble Bellfont. She is quicker to let Strathclyde know when he is being foolish, but often to little or no effect. Tess also harbors something of an ill temper, nearly severe enough to be called a mean streak. She is more than content to be "one of the boys," but drawing attention to her innate feminine allure has caused suffering and, on occasion, dismemberment to a growing number of unfortunate males that have made her brief aquaintance. Not desiring recognition for her comeliness, she would rather prove herself as a capable sailor and leader.
